Bonjour @Service_Informatique,
The GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) describes a family of GS1 (EAN-UCC) global data structures (not symbologies) that employ 13, 8, 12 or 14 digits for identifying consumer goods or packages of them, and can be encoded into various types of data carriers (Barcode labels, RFID tags, data transmissions…)
Bar code labels for individual articles used at the points of sale (POS) typically use GTIN of different families depending on their respective target markets and are each printed with a different bar code symbology:
GTIN Data Structure Current naming |
Legacy Terminology |
Barcode Symbology |
Market |
---|---|---|---|
GTIN-13 | EAN, JAN, EAN-13 | EAN-13 | Outside North America |
GTIN-8 | EAN-8 | EAN-8 | Outside North America (for small packages) |
GTIN-12 | UPC, UCC-12 | UPC-A, UPC-E | North America |
Instead, barcode labels to identify commercial items at various levels of the supply chain (logistics shelf, master cartons, boxes, and so on) worldwide typically contain a GTIN-14 data structure.
A GTIN-14 data-structure can be printed as EAN/UCC-14 (based on the GS1-128 symbology) or ITF-14 (based on the Interleaved Two of Five symbology).

GTIN-14 | ITF-14, SCC-14, UPC Case Code |

GTIN-14 | EAN / UCC-14 | GS1-128 | Worldwide |
On Datalogic Devices both the options are enabled at default.
The labels are identifyed as ITF-14 and GS1-128 respectivly.
Coming back to your issue, we would suggest some possible paths.
-
As a first attempt , restore the Scan Engine default settings from the menu:
Datalogic Settings / Scanner & Decoder → Reset symbologies configuration
or with the deeper:
Datalogic Settings / Scanner & Decoder → Reset scanner configuration -
Alternatively, check the parameters individually from these menu:
Datalogic Settings / Scanner & Decoder / Symbology settings / Code128: → GS1-128 / Enable
Datalogic Settings / Scanner & Decoder / Symbology settings / Interleaved 2 of 5: → Interleaved 2 of 5 / Enable
- Datalogic Settings / Scanner & Decoder / Symbology settings / Interleaved 2 of 5: → ITF-14 / Enable
- If it still doesn’t work:
use the menu Datalogic Settings / Scanner & Decoder: → Enable All Symbologies
use the “Datalogic / ScanDemo” app found on the Android Home screen, read the label and check the barcode-type returned.
restore the previous configuration and enable only the really needed symbologies. This ensures less chance of user errors and better performances.
If you still cannot read the labels, contact our technical support at the following link and provide some sample of your labels: One of our technicians will give you direct assistance to solve the issue.
