Add Skorpio X5 to Intune

Hi,

I recently recieved a Skorpio X5 from a sister company to try and evaluate wether Datalogic devices may be suitable for our logistics department. I freshly factory reset the device and want to add it to our Intune tenant. Usually I go via the route of tapping 6 times on the language screen, scanning the QR-code from Intune and then joining our Wifi to get the devices in.
It looks like this does not work on the Skorpio X5 as tapping the usual 6 times (or more) does not get me to the QR-Code scanner / wifi-screen. What am I doing wrong or have to do differently on a Datalogic device?

We’re glad you’re trying out our devices and hope they’ll fully meet your needs. For the Skorpio X5, as with all Datalogic mobile devices, there’s no need to tap 6 times at the Hi-There Screen or open the camera to scan WiFi configuration or Android Enterprise QR codes (like those generated by Intune) for EMM enrollment. The Datalogic Scanner Service already integrates this functionality. When you reach the Hi-There screen, simply press one of the device’s triggers and scan the configuration QR code using the main ScanEngine.

We’d also like to highlight two online tools for generating QR codes that offer additional functionality for Datalogic devices:

1. Datalogic Android Enterprise QR Code Generator

This tool creates a standard Android Enterprise Enrollment QR code usable for provisioning any Android device. For Datalogic devices specifically, the enrollment process has been enhanced to include extra properties in the QR code, such as:

• Mobile network configuratoin (APN and mobile data)
• Network time protocol (NTP)
• EMM Agent download from closed networks or internal HTTPS servers using self-signed certificates
• FTP download location
• USB Debugging
• QR code encryption option
• Other options that will gradually be implemented.

2. Datalogic Wi-Fi QR Code Generator:

This tool creates a standard Wi-Fi QR code and, exclusively for Datalogic Android devices, offers an encryption option using a Datalogic public key to protect customer data.

As addition only on the SkorpioX5 with 1D imager you need to tap the welcome screen 5 times. This will open the camera to scan a qr code to enroll since the 1D scanner cannot do this.
