Datalogic launcher doesn't come up with startup - Skorpio X5

Hi there,

we use some SkorpioX5. These devices are configured by Scan2Deploy. I want to set the Datalogic Launcher as default launcher. But there is still an error that the launcher can’t be set. In the Android settings I can’t set it manually as well. The device was Android 10 therefore I made an update to Android 11 with the lastest firmware. Are there any hints?

Regards,

Dominique

Hi Dominique,

Scan2Deploy should launch the Datalogic Launcher automatically if you create a configuration. The Launcher when launched should automatically starts again when you reboot the terminal. When you exit the Datalogic Launcher and reboot it does not. So the Launcher does not take over the default launcher function of Android but it acts as a Kiosk application to secure your terminal. As long as you keep the Launcher active and secure (by the optional password) your users cannot access all the settings. I hope this answers your question.

Hi Peter,
thanks for you answer. Now it is clear. I didn’t know that the DL Launcher does not replace the default launcher. Now I know how to handle it.

Hello @Dominique_Dohring,

It sounds like you came to a resolution, I thought I would just add a few details.
Datalogic Launcher does set itself as the default launcher.
But it also removes itself as the default launcher if you use the admin password to exit the application.
Hopefully this helps explain the behaviour you are experiencing.
